Harry Potter

I don't know why, but for some reason I never got into Harry Potter while the books were all the rage. Maybe I decided to be rebellious because everyone else seemed obsessed. Whatever the reason the only book I ever read was book two. However, since I have more time on my hands, I decided to read them after some friends of ours in the ward offered to let me borrow them. I read the first 5 books over the past month or so. Then last Sunday I got book 6 and 7. I started reading Sunday evening and I finished both books by Wednesday night. It was a total of 1400 pages. I even worked on Monday and Wednesday. Needless to say I did not get much else done during those 3 days. I really enjoyed the last book and I am looking forward to the release of the last movie!

Pass the Pig

Last Friday we had some good friends over for games, dinner, and of course the NCAA tournament basketball games. After a little bit of arm twisting, we convinced the guys to take a break from the basketball games and play an more interactive game. We decided to play Pass the Pigs. I had not played this game before and it was quite interesting. The object of the game is to get to 100 points, In order to get points you have to roll two little pigs. Depending on how they land depends on the amount of points you receive. You can keep rolling until you either want to stop of you get the piggy combination that cancels your turn as well as your points. It was a silly game, but we had a great time. Of course I had to best time because I won :-)!

Below you will find a live demonstration of just a few of the winning poses for pass the pig.

The pose I am striking below is one of the easiest ones to role as well as perform.

As you can see, we had some spare time on our hands!

David's wedding

My Cousin David (Davey) got married a couple weekends ago. This pictures was taken outside the Bountiful Utah temple. I loved seeing a lot of people from my extended family. They all seems to be amazing!

If we both look exhausted in the picture it is because WE WERE. There was a pre-wedding dinner the night before the sealing so we decided to stay the night at a hotel in Bountiful. Since my parents were going to be there we decided to share a bedroom so we could split the cost. Well lets just say that both of my parents have sleep apnea and the BOTH forgot their CPAP machines! My dad has always been a loud snorer but I think it has gotten worse. Chris and I probably got about 4-5 hours of sleep that night. Then, the next night was daylight savings time. I think it took me about a week and a half to recover and regain my normal sleeping habits. Note to self, always bring earplugs and never share a hotel room if someone with sleep apnea forgets their machine!

Treats treats treats

I love my new job at the clinic. It is great because they often provide lunch, but one thing that has been hard is that there are always treats. Today for instance there were lemon bars, brownies, and chocolate in the freezer. For those of you who don't know I LOVE candy and all kinds of desserts. For that reason I have decided to only eat sweets on the weekends or else I would eat lots of them day every day. It has been hard but so far I have been sweet free at work for over a month!

More Basketball

It might be Chris's number one love...no not me...basketball! J/K but it is a close second. On Saturday BYU had it's biggest game of the season, the game that would determine the NCAA regular season championship. Our friends got there over two hours early to save seats and we were still really far back. I guess that the whole back area of the Marriott center was covered with tents. Some fans are CRAZY! Unfortunately we lost :-( only by 2 points and that was with our star player being sick and out the entire second half. Hopefully we can win the conference championship. Here is the picture of the silly glasses they gave us to try and get us excited about Spring and Summer school.

Time with old friends

Last Saturday I was lucky enough to have breakfast and lunch with good friends. One of my great friends from freshman year, Summer, and I went to breakfast. It was wonderful to see her again. She has always been a great example to me and helped me a ton our freshman year of college. She was a huge blessing in my life. Sadly, I did not get a picture of us together.
Later that day I went out to lunch with two of my friends from the nursing program. We were roomies together in Ecuador so we had a lot of bonding time. Of course there was all the drama of wedding planning, spanish confusion, and a broken heart caused by a boy that will not be named :-) It's okay, he made up for it later! They are great and I loved seeing them again.

Skiing!

A couple of weeks ago Chris and I went to Sundance. Price Water House Cooper sponsored the event for the accounting group. We only paid 10 bucks each for an entire day of skiing including lunch! Unfortantely, I forgot my poles and had to rent them. They wanted to charge me 10 dollars for POLES! I could not believe it!
We went with a couple of friends from our ward. Our ward is full of accounting majors. I am not joking, there are probably 15 or more men in the BYU accounting program. At least Chris has a lot of people to commiserate with :-)

We had a blast skiing. It felt great to have ski's back under my feet, rather than a snowboard. I tried that one over Christmas break, and I don't know if I will be doing that again. I could barely move for three days! We also went night skiing the next Friday. I got off work a little bit early and we hit the slopes with a friend of Chris's. I definitely prefer day skiing to night skiing. The cold and I are not very good friends. After we were done skiing I just couldn't get warm. I was in a warm car and then a warm house, but it just wasn't working so I finally had to get in a warm bath...ahhh heaven!

As you can see if Chris goes into the trees he becomes invisible :-)
